Frequently Asked Questions
━━━
Have questions about starting therapy? You’re not alone. Here you’ll find clear answers about what to expect,
session options, costs, and how we can work together to support your healing journey.
What should I expect in our first meeting?
During our first meeting, we will discuss why you have chosen to engage in therapy, what you would like to accomplish, as well as completing a psychosocial assessment (don't worry, it's fairly painless). This will allow me to have some background on your life prior to today and help me work with you to create a treatment plan for your sessions.
How often will we meet?
This is your choice. I will provide a recommendation, but these are your sessions and I will schedule at your desired timeframe.
How much does therapy cost?
This is dependent on your insurance copay. There are no additional costs related to a session, other than late cancellation and no-show fees.
Do you take private pay clients?
Yes, my fee is $90 for a 55-60 minute session.
What is the difference between a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
The two professions are closely related and have similar requirements for licensure and both require a Masters Degree. An LPC candidate completes 2000-3000 hours of supervised clinical experience before being allowed to sit for the licensing exam and LCSW candidate completes 3000 hours of supervised clinical experience before being allowed to sit for the licensing exam.
Both are accredited by their respective licensing boards and trained to provide psychotherapy. The major difference is that, in addition to therapy, a social worker may also work in macro- or systemic-level settings.
